Welcome
to the Christian BBS WebRing!
This is the information and sign-up page.
What is the Christian BBS
WebRing?
The
Christian BBS WebRing is a collection of Christian BBS
systems that are linked together into a ring to make it
easier for web surfers (or ring surfers) to visit each of
our sites. Ring surfers can get a list of the all active
sites on the ring, scan through them one at a time, or,
for the truly adventurous, jump to a random site.
The
Christian BBS WebRing is really easy to use. Ring surfers
simply look for the following banner (or something like
it) on each site's listed page. From this banner, ring
surfers can go to the next site, the previous site, a
random site, or view the list of all sites on the ring.
Click HERE to view a list of
current webring BBSes.
So, want to join? Sure
you do!
To
become a member of the Christian BBS WebRing you must
meet the following criteria:
Your site must be a
Christian BBS. A Christian BBS
will offer any of the following: text-files, counselling
or outreach to the non-believeing. A Christian BBS will
also enforce rules of Christian conduct among it's
members and will not endulge in
software piracy or promote sexual promiscuity by the
offering of adult files or chat. By "Christian
BBS" we mean a public or private system which
reflects the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the
Bible which is that God is a triune being, existing as
one in three persons as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
that the Son of God, Jesus Christ became flesh and lived
among us; that He was cruicified, died and rose again
from the dead in order to make payment for our sins which
we receive through repentance and a personal faith in
Christ as Lord and Saviour; that this substiutionary act
of grace is offered to all people by a holy, loving and
omnipotent God.
The URL you provide
for your webring link must be available 24
hours a day/7 days a week. Your BBS does not have to
be open or available for telnet or login all the time,
but you should have your BBS login or telnet hours POSTED
clearly so people know when they CAN get into your BBS.
If a user must TELNET into your BBS in order to access it
you MUST have a Telnet LINK on your full time
website that ring surfers can CLICK on to fire off their
default telnet client and connect to your system. If you
do not know how to add this type of code to your webpage,
then e-mail the Ringmaster at [email protected] and sample code
will be mailed you. Your site or BBS must be Family-safe...no pornography,
violence, vulgar language, or any other content not
suitable for family viewing may be accessible by a ring
surfer. There must be NO such material on or advertised
by your site or bbs. Keep our ring a clean one.
The Christian BBS
WebRing code needs to be on
the page pointed to by the ring. This may be your
home page, or (e.g., in the \http\public directory) or
may be another page such as a webrings or links page. In
any case, however, ring users (or "surfers")
must be able to surf into and out of your site via the
ring without having to navigate to any other page. If
yours is a pay system, there must be something on the
public/free side for surfers to check out. If surfers
cannot access your site or BBS without paying, there is
no point in being part of the ring. Make it worth a ring
surfer's time to visit your site.
Keep the RingMaster up to date with
any problems! If the RingMaster finds your site offline,
it may be moved off the ring until you notify the
RingMaster that it is back online. (If you have a site
that goes down regularly, such as is often the case with
dynamic IP servers, then consider placing the ring HTML
and a link to your site on one of the many free 24 hour
homepage services out there. That way you will not break
the ring when your site goes offline or is down). Sites
not following the rules, having incorrect links or URLs,
or causing the ring not to work by dropping from the net
without notice are "not cool"...all these
things will break the ring and make it less desirable for
ring surfers. Lots of happy ring surfers is in all of our
best interest. You should regularly check the site in
front of you on the ring, and the site behind you on the
ring, and let the RingMaster know if a problem
is found.
Please keep your
site information current...use the Edit Site Info link
below. Very simple to do. With many sites in the ring and
new ones joining, it is not practical for the RingMaster
to stay on top of everything all the time. Again, if your
URL changes and you do not update your site info, the
ring will break! It is your responsibility to maintain
your site info.
This
is a free service provided by Fire Escape's BBS and WebRing.
All
of the information needed to join the Christian BBS
WebRing is contained on this page, and the pages

Fill
out the following form, with the complete URL of
your site. If you don't plan to put the banner on your
default home page (e.g., the \public\default.htm page),
then include the page directory and filename in the URL!
Example:
http://www.yourdomain.com/public/otherpage.htm
You'll
receive an auto e-mail confirming that your site was
added to our WebRing queue. If you do not receive an
e-mail within 24 hours, e-mail the RingMaster for help.
Something definitely went wrong. Normally there is no
need to inform the Ringmaster that you have been added to
the queue as she will also receive an auto e-mail as
well...please be patient. But don't wait to add the
banner... and MAKE sure the URL you
enter above points to where the banner will be!. Then add the ring
code you receive in e-mail to the corresponding webpage
immediately so that it is there when the ringmaster
checks your site.
After
your site has been verified by the RingMaster and the
banner is in place with the correct info, the site will
be made active on the ring and you'll receive another
auto e-mail letting you know that your webring site is
now officially in the ring.. that's it!
Once you submit
your site using the button above, you will receive a customized
html fragment of the code you will need
in order to add the banner to your site. Please add the
banner code as soon as you receive the HTML, as the
RingMaster will check your site as soon as she receives
the auto e-mail. Once you add the HTML, you can sit back
and wait for the RingMaster to add you to the ring.
If the ring code banner is
there when the RingMaster checks your site, you will be
added to the ring immediately.
If You lose your custom html
code...
If
you loose the HTML somehow, wait! You will receive
another copy of the customized HTML fragment via e-mail.
If you loose that too, Click
here for a generic version of the HTML to put the banner
on your page. (Because the HTML at this link is not
customized for your site, you will have to do the
customizing yourself. Don't just insert the HTML
uncustomized!). Copy and paste the HTML into your web
editor, then hit the Back button in your browser to
return here. ONLY use this generic version of the code if
you don't get a customised one in the mail. Customizing
this code requires you to possess some basic knowledge of
html code.
Important!
If
you use the generic version of the HTML, you must
customize the HTML code so it will function on your site!
Don't just paste in the HTML as presented.
Where it says. . .
YOUR_URL
replace with your site URL as listed in the
WebRing.
YOUR_E-MAIL_ADDRESS
replace with your e-mail address as listed in the
WebRing.
YOUR_NAME
replace with your name as listed in the WebRing.
YOUR_SITE_ID
replace with your site id# as listed in the auto
e-mail you receive and on the page displayed
after you submit your site.
Also,
make sure the references to the Christian BBS WebRing
graphic/logo point to the location at which you have
stored the graphic on your site.
Please
make sure you do this customization or your site will not
work on the ring with this generic HTML code fragment.
And, you will not be added to the ring! So do it now...
